Cats Up for Adoption

Once again we have been left with similar circumstances as we were in the Fall of 2009.  Someone dropped 4 cats off at our worksite in the Fall of 2009.  It was just before Thanksgiving.  There were 2 females approx. 6 mths. old and 2 males that were about one year.  We took them in and fed them, they were very, very, hungry, took them to the vet and had their vac. done and eventually they were spaded and neutered.  It took till the end of 2009 but we found good homes for all of them.  What we didn't know was that there must have been a fifth cat, that for some reason or another wasn't with the other four.  She survived all winter until we seen her around the yard on May 19 2010.  Then we saw her again on May 20 2010, she too was very hungry.  We fed her and sure enough when she was finished she went back to the truck where she had her kittens.  They were about 10 days old at that point.  We took them in have been looking after them ever since.  Mom and her babies are going to the vet on Tuesday, June 22 2010 for their check ups and needles.  The kittens will be ready for their forever homes around June25 2010.  Mom will be spaded probably on June 29 2010 and then she will be ready for her new forever home.  As far as the kittens and them being fixed, arrangements will be made for them when they reach six months old.  There is an old saying that certainly holds true no matter how old it gets, Spay and Neuter, your animals.  If everyone that  had a pet would be responsible and do this, maybe there would not be such a overload of cats and their kittens.  If you are truly interested in one of these cats, please feel free to email me at, gsjjjmack@seascape.ns.ca   or phone 842-1143.  The mother and her babies have wonderful personalities considering the circumstances that they were born into.  Our children have named all the kittens and their mother simply because it is much easier to look after them when you know who they are.

These pictures are of Josh and Rory (both male).  The grey short haired kitten is Josh and the black long haired kitten is Rory.  I'm not sure how old they are, perhaps 9wks old.  They eat soft food and hard food and like water.  They are litter trained and fairly social. They've come a long way within the past 3 wks since I've taken them in.  The grey striped guy is very social and very affectionate and quite brite.  The black guy is still very timid and likes to stick very closely to his little buddy.  They are very seldom apart and always sleep on top of each other.  They're quite playful too.

You can reach me at home after 5:30pm at 539-7905 and during the day at 849-1017.
